Sweetgreen

Neman, Jammet & Ru

Georgetown students Jammet, Ru, and Neman founded the world's largest premium salad chain

the founder story

Seasonal salads and warm bowls from three Georgetown University classmates, Jonathan Neman, Nicolas Jammet and Nathaniel Ru, who were frustrated that healthy, affordable food was so hard to find near campus. Three months after graduating they opened their first shop in 2007 in a former Georgetown burger shack, rebuilding their recipes in two days after a break-in took their computer just before opening. Their mission, "building healthier communities by connecting people to real food," has since grown Sweetgreen into one of the country's best-known salad brands. For Silicon Valley teams it's the easy, individually packed lunch: Kale Caesar, Harvest Bowl, Super Green Goddess, Hummus Crunch, Shroomami and the crowd-favorite miso glazed salmon and KBBQ bowls, with gluten-free and vegan choices and dressing on the side.
